The following poem was read to me on the phone at around mile 60 on run to Dover by Jane Pallister. It came at a real low point, and when I realised that it was being read by a women in the middle of the night, hundreds of miles away and by a person who I have never met, it really inspired and motivated me to a new level. Thanks Jane, you will never know exactly how much it meant to me:
That Valiant man
From Arch to Arc
Through light and dark
Strode valiant man Steve Haywood
A major feat
A record to beat
Strove valiant man Steve Haywood
A winning team
And a Supporting stream
For the valiant man Steve Haywood
For those who dare
The spoils they share
Like valiant Man Steve Haywood
Through blood and veins
The courage strains
For the valiant like Steve Haywood
ASPIRE will win
Because of him
That valiant man Steve Haywood
